5. Challenge

The customer was experiencing premature failures in the steel bearings used within their dental drill tool. These failures were driven by:

Silicon nitride ceramic balls for superior speed capability and shock resilience

Steel rings matched to the existing tool geometry, ensuring a seamless drop-in replacement

A light oil lubrication optimized for thin film formation under light loads.

This configuration delivered the necessary high-speed performance while reducing heat generation and minimizing wear all without requiring design changes to the customer’s equipment.
